Goldsboro B-52 Crash - January 24, 1961: On this day in history, January 24, 1961, important events took place today in North Carolina, USA, in respect of the Goldsboro B-52 Crash. Major Walter Scott Tulloch, commander of a B-52, aborted aerial refuelling when a leak was discovered. As the aircraft descended into Seymour Johnson Airforce Base, the crew lost control of the aircraft. The B-52 broke up before impact releasing two nuclear bombs.
