Columbine Mine Massacre - November 21, 1927: On this day in history, November 21, 1927, momentous events took place today in Colorado, USA, with regard to the Columbine Mine Massacre. On November 21, 1927, five weeks into a strike by the miners of the the Columbine Mine in Serene, Colorado, their path to the gates of the mine was blocked by the Colorado Rangers. When strike leader Adam Bell put his hand on the gate, he was clubbed unconcious by a ranger. A fight ensued and when the angry miners forced their way through the gate, the rangers fired shots into the crowd killing six strikers and injuring dozens more.
