Disppearance of Felix Moncla and His F-89C Scorpion - November 23, 1939: On this day in history, November 23, 1939, critical events took place today in Lake Superior, USA, regarding the Disppearance of Felix Moncla and His F-89C Scorpion. U.S. Airforce Lieutenant Felix Moncla took off from Kinross Air Force Base, in an F-89C Scorpion, with radar operator Robert Wilson. They had been scrambled to intercept an unidentified flying object near the Soo Locks. Tracked on radar by ground control, the scorpion closed in on the object, and merged with it on screen, but it never reappeared. The unidentified object continued on it's route, but Moncla's plane was never seen again.
